Alan has a broad business background and has been exposed to a wide variety of complex business situations within large corporations, financial institutions, start-ups, small-caps and turnarounds. Currently, Alan is Managing Partner of Broadband Initiatives, LLC, a boutique corporate advisory firm. His specialty is in providing board and executive leadership working with small-cap and micro-cap companies particularly in turnaround situations. Over the last decade, Alan has served on 30 different public and private boards and served as Chairman of the Board in five circumstances. Alan currently sits on the following boards: Chairman of Data I/O (Nasdaq: DAIO), a Director at Resonant (Nasdaq: RESN), a Director of Sonim Technologies (Nasdaq: SONM), a Director of Babcock & Wilcox (NYSE: BW) and a Director of Orion Energy Systems (Nasdaq: OESX). Alan also previously served as Chairman of JPS Industries, Inc. (OTCBB: JPST) that was sold to Handy & Harman Ltd. (Nasdaq: HNH); Chairman of Ditech Networks (Nasdaq: DITC) that was sold to Nuance (Nasdaq: NUAN) a director of Urban Communications (TSE.V: UBN) that was sold to Dr. Peng Media & Telecom Group Ltd. (SHA:600804), a director of MagicJack Vocaltec (Nasdaq: CALL) that was sold to BRileyFBR (Nasdaq: RILY) and a director of CafePress (Nasdaq: PRSS) that was sold to Snapfish.
Previously, he served as Vice President of Strategic & Wireless Business Development for Covad Communications, a national broadband company. Before that, Alan was CFO and VP of Corp Dev of Teletrac for six years until the company was sold. Alan joined Teletrac from Sprint, where he was Director of Corp Dev and one of the initial team members that helped start Sprint PCS.
Alan holds a B.S.-Bus. Administration from the University of Illinois and an M.B.A.-Finance from the Indiana University Kelley Graduate School of Business. Alan also holds his Series 7 and Series 63 Securities licenses.
